John Miller and his family are installing the flag brackets provided through funds from the Lucerne Valley Lions Club. Several years ago, the Miller family took over volunteer duties from Jerry Byars to install American flags in the heart of Lucerne Valley.

Lucerne Valley Lions Club and Public Shooting Range donated $500 toward the purchase of flag brackets for the City of Lucerne Valley in anticipation of the annual Lucerne Valley Fourth of July Parade so that Stars and Stripes will able to be flown, as is annual tradition, from the telephone poles in town.
The former brackets became unavailable after the old telephone poles were replaced. The new brackets will be installed by volunteer John Miller and family who are local residents and who for the past few years have given their time as a family to put the Stars and Stripes on display each year for the fourth of July, one flag per telephone pole, on the telephone poles running through the business section of Lucerne Valley along Highways 18 and 247 from about Trade Post Road to Fire Station #8.
More thank 30 telephone poles will fly the Stars and Stripes this year as a part of the Fourth of July festivities. Longtime Lucerne Valley resident George Yablonsky is the Lion who led the sponsorship effort and is also this year's parade Grand Marshall. This year's parade theme is "Let Freedom Ring." The Lucerne Valley Chamber of Commerce is the lead sponsor for the annual event.
Lucerne Valley Lions Club and Public Shooting Range is a nonprofit organization whose proceeds go to charity.
The range is open to the public Tuesdays for $6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays for $8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (1 p.m. for trap). Shoot as long as you want, rifle/pistol. Targets are provided. Trap is available for $5 per 25 clays.
