LUCERNE VALLEY • There was something for just about everyone at last Saturday’s annual High Desert Shooting Fun Fair at the Lions Pride Park and Shooting Range.

Tessie and the Calico Cats got things going as Lions members cooked and served hot dogs, hamburgers and more. But perhaps the most ever brought their families to enjoy the free admission, which included a chance to try out a number of firearms.

“It went great,” said Michael Kalinowski, vice-president of the Lucerne Valley Lions Club. “We had 600 shooters and served 400 meals. Everybody had a great time.”

Due to this year’s success two major gun manufacturers have indicated an interest in participating in the 2015 edition of the event, Kalinowski said.

Every year, the Lucerne Valley Lions, which is a 501c3 non-profit organization, do their part to help the community. Soon they will hand out four $1,000 scholarships for a quartet of outstanding Lucerne Valley High School students.
